Click How to age healthfully, gracefully and happily!

  • When you wake up in the morning step outside and breathe the fresh morning air and stop for a moment to hear the bird’s morning chorus (Tio Tio), put a smile on your dial and have a moment of gratitude for all the goodness in your life. Stretch to awaken your body, and take a walk, even if all you can fit in is 10 minutes

  • Make the first drink of the day a cup of warm water with fresh lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to cleanse, detox and stimulate digestive enzymes

  • Have a nutritiously rich breakfast, with a portion of protein and ideally start your vege intake for the day. A quick spinach and parsley omelette with a cup of chicken broth is one of my favourites

  • Eat mostly vegetables, organic wherever possible, and have at least a portion of raw with each meal for their bonus enzymes and vitamins which are lost in cooking processes

  • Eat only healthy oils – “extra virgin, cold pressed” and fats (coconut oil, butter, ghee, animal fat) and always have a little with each meal to help absorb fat soluble vitamins e.g. an oil and vinegar dressing on a salad

  • Eat a portion of protein with each meal: fish, lamb, chicken, wild meats. Limit red meat e.g. beef to no more than 1 serving a week

  • Eat a small amount of fruit, seasonally

  • Incorporate cinnamon, turmeric, garlic and dark chocolate into your foods for their super food qualities, and deliciousness

  • Drink lots of water and limit alcohol and caffeinated drinks

  • Read and write with pen and paper to keep your mind and memory vital

  • Laugh out loud every day

  • Be generous and kind

  • Breathe deeply/meditate/do yoga/pray/whatever you know soothes your body and calms your mind, daily

  • Avoid toxic food – that’s all highly processed foods in packages with ingredients and additives and preservatives with numbers and names you cannot even pronounce and most “fast foods” – these are not real whole  foods your body recognises therefore they cannot be digested easily and are always a toxic burden which ultimately may cause inflammation, dis-regulation and disease processes to develop

  • Avoid sugar

  • Avoid a stressful life

  • be involved with your family and community

  • Get plenty of undisturbed sleep

  • If you have a health issue DON’T ignore it; seek help before it takes control of your life

  • Be happy!
